1. The Financial Services Authority (FSA)


The FSA is the independent watchdog that regulates financial services. It requires us to give you this document. Use this information to decide if our services are right for you.


2.Whose products do we offer?

We offer products from a range of insurers for general insurance. Ask us for a list of insurers we offer insurance from.

3.Which service will we provide you with?

We will advise and make a recommendation for you after we have assessed your needs. We may ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we will provide details on. You will then need to make your own choice about how to proceed.

4.What will you have to pay us for this service?

¨A fee of £10 for New Business

A fee of £10 for Renewals

A fee of £10 for Mid - Term Amendments.


5.Who regulates us?

Our permitted business is transacting general insurance.

If you cannot settle your complaint with us, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

 


7.Claims

We have no authority to settle claims on behalf of insurers. In the event of an incident occurring, which may give rise to a claim under your policy, you should notify us immediately. In an emergency, and outside our business hours, please refer to your policy for guidance. We will advise you promptly of insurer’s re requirements concerning claims, including the provision of information required to establish the nature and extent of the loss.

If there is a conflict of interest, we shall only handle a claim on your behalf after we have disclosed to you all information you require, to enable you to decide whether to give your informed consent, and after you have given your consent.


8.Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?

We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £2,000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any upper limit. For compulsory classes of insurance, insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the claim, without any upper limit.

9.Cancellation Rights (The Mediation Contract)

The Mediation Contract is a contract between you and us for the insurance mediation services we provide to you in respect of your insurance requirements.

Once you have entered into the Mediation Contract with us, you are entitled to a period of reflection during which you may decide whether to proceed with the purchase of the Mediation Contract. The duration of this cancellation period is 14 days and commences from either:

  • the day of the conclusion of the Mediation Contract or
  • the day on which you receive the full terms of the Mediation Contract detailing the full contractual terms, conditions and information of the contract;

whichever is later.

To cancel this mediation Contract within the cancellation period, please write to us at the above address. If you cancel this Mediation Contract within the cancellation period or at any other time, you may be charged in full any fees that you have paid.


10. Disclosure of commission

If you would like to know the amount of commission that we are paid in respect of your insurance contract, this information is available on request.


11. Earning interest on customer money

We hold premiums that you pay to us in a Client Money Bank Account. Under FSA Regulations we have to inform you that we may earn interest from the money held in this account, which may exceed £20 for any one transaction you make with us. Our policy for payment of interest is not to refund interest. By accepting these terms, you are giving your consent for us to act in the manner described in this section.


12. Customer money passed to another person

In accordance with FSA Regulations we have to inform you that in managing/arranging your insurance requirements, we may transfer money that you have paid us, in payment of an insurance premium, to another insurance intermediary. By accepting these terms, you are giving your consent for us to act in the manner described in this section.


13. Disclosure of information

It is your responsibility to provide complete and accurate information to insurers when you take out your insurance policy, throughout the life of the policy and at renewal. Failure to disclose facts material to the insurance or any inaccuracies in your answers may invalidate your insurance cover partially or in full. A material fact is information that may influence an insurer in assessing your risk and should be disclosed as soon as you become aware of it. You are advised to keep copies of any correspondence you send to your insurer or us. If you are in any doubt about whether information is material, you should disclose it.


14. Documents and awareness of policy terms

When a policy is issued you are advised to read it carefully. It is the policy document, the schedule and any certificate of insurance, which are the basis of the insurance. Please ask our advice if you are in any doubt over any of the terms or conditions. We reserve the right to retain certificates or policy documents whilst awaiting full payment of premiums, including instalment facilities. We will ensure that you receive details of your insurance cover and any documents required by law.


15. Governing law

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and the parties agree herewith that any disputes arising out of it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of English Courts.


16. Other taxes or costs

Other taxes or costs, or both, may exist in relation to products and services offered by us, which are not paid through, nor imposed, by us.


17. Hours of Business

Our normal hours of business are 9.00am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 12.30pm on Saturdays, excluding public holidays.
